This wallpaper was created using an image from Dover which has been made into a ding in the font, ArtDeco.ttf, by Denise Clendenin and is freely available here. Thank you, Denise and thank you, Dover Publications. I love the Art Deco style of gold with a black bakelite and decided to try and imitate this look here.
Hope you like this.

Many years ago I spent a week in New York and have many wonderful memories of that fascinating city. On the corner of 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue is The Chrysler Building, an Art Deco style skyscraper. I fell in love with this gorgeous building back then, and when our theme turned to Art Deco, this was definitely a chance for me to use a photograph by Leena Hietanen found on wikimedia commons and tubed before using a filter to create this unusual effect.
The original photograph is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 3.0 License, which means I am free to share and make derivative works of the file so long as I appropriately attribute it, and distribute it only under a license identical to the above.
Hope you enjoy the beautiful Chrysler Building as shown in this wallpaper.

Using the new theme of the month, Art Deco, I have created a modern day wallpaper using the design of that style.
Waipapa Point Lighthouse, in the Catlins, not far from where I live, is a lovely un-manned, and, now, what seems to be sadly neglected, lighthouse on the south coast of Aotearoa/New Zealand. I have created another wallpaper using photographs of this same lighthouse, namely The Red Door from 25 February 2010.
One of the worst shipwrecks in the history of Aotearoa/New Zealand was off the shores of Waipapa Point when, in 1881, 131 people were drowned when the passenger steamer, Tararua, was wrecked on a reef off Waipapa Point.
Hope you like this new wallpaper.
Thank you for popping by my blog.

To begin the theme for April of Art Deco, I have chosen one of my favourites of the silent movie era, Louise Brooks aka Lulu. This wallpaper is created using an image of Louise from Wikimedia Commons, an image which is in the public domain. I enlarged the image and using Corel Paint Shop Pro and a filter called Filter Forge to alter the image, and using an effect within PSP, change to target, painted the lips red.
I hope you enjoy this new wallpaper.
