Beautiful Rose

Kia ora

I found this beautiful rose last year when I was wandering through the rose garden at Hagley Park in Christchurch, Aotearoa/New Zealand. The beauty of the standard rose was made even more so by the nest of tiny birds nestled in the curve of the branches. What surprised me most was that I was the only one who noticed these baby thrushes in a very busy rose garden.

Lupins at Hanmer

Kia ora

Tonight I have completed two new desktops. The first is of a Russell Lupin found at the bach we stayed at in Hanmer. The Russell Lupin has become a weed, often found in our high country, and looks beautiful when found en masse as it is in these areas, although it also destroys the eco system of our riverbeds.

I hope you like it.

Hanmer Springs

Kia ora

Christmas was spent at Hanmer this year. A beautiful thermal springs area of North Canterbury, Hanmer has been a relaxing place for me for many years, a place to get away from the stresses of life.

On the doorstep of the Southern Alps that divide the South Island east from west, Hanmer is usually one of the hottest in the South Island, along with Alexandra in Central Otago.

Abby came along, too. Abby is my cat and she travels wherever I travel and she gets to enjoy many different things, such as running up and down trees and down rabbit holes whenever we stop somewhere for a break.

This photo, above, shows Abby enjoying the views of Hanmer all the way over towards the Lewis Pass and the Southern Alps.

Cathedral Cliffs, Gore Bay, North Canterbury

Kia ora

Yesterday, Christmas Day, was spent travelling from Hanmer Springs home, to Christchurch, via the coastal roads, after spending a few days relaxing in the hot pools at Hanmer, a beautiful spot in the mountains with wonderful thermal pools giving a rejuvenating experience to many, myself included. We met lots of others also sunning themselves in the pools, enjoying time away from the busy Christmas period.

We popped in to view the Cathedral Cliffs just south of Gore Bay in North Canterbury. How beautiful they are. Out of the way of the main tourist route, these cliffs would not be seen by those who don't go off the main path [route]. With the beautiful Gore Bay in the background, the Cathedrals are a breathtaking sight.

Hope you enjoyed your Christmas.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I hope the holiday season brings you much joy, love and laughter.

Those going away for the break, keep safe on the roads.

Take care.

New Beginnings

Kia ora

Thinking about the New Year, I decided to do another desktop with a Māori theme. Te Koru is the spiral of the new frond of the fern and represents new beginnings, which made me think of a new year.

You may download a zip of two sizes here.

I hope you like this desktop.

Pohutukawa, the tree of Christmas

Kia ora

December already!

For those who enjoy Christmas, I have completed a new desktop showing our beautiful Christmas tree, the Pohutukawa. This stunning tree has the most gorgeous red flowers and is seen around Aotearoa/New Zealand, mainly in the North Island, although we have the brighter red Southern Rata in the South, flowering during the Summer months.

Beautiful Tulips

Kia ora

I recently travelled down to Southland where, to my great pleasure, I noticed a huge paddock had been planted with tulips since last down that way. What a beautiful, colourful sight!

Needless to say my camera came out and I took a few images, one of which graces my latest desktop. Hope someone likes it and downloads this desktop.

The Eye of the Tiger - Pusscat

Kia ora

This morning I have chosen an image of the kitten of a friend. This kitten goes by the name of PussCat. She arrived at a resthome and because they already had a cat, Pusscat was sent around to my friend, who immediately fell in love with the wee minx. Of course, PussCat doesn't have such green eyes, they have been colourised. :)

You may download a zip file of three sizes of this PussCat desktop from here

Hope she gives you some pleasure, as she does me.

Hello Billy

Kia ora

Today, I decided to try a desktop using my friend, Billy, the cockatoo. Billy belongs to some friends who live in a converted church in Milburn, Aotearoa/New Zealand. Billy loves to entertain and enjoys nothing more than showing off to customers and friends at the Vat-t-can where Christine paints beautiful glassware and Bernie plays beautiful music.

You can download a zip file of Billy in three sizes here

Enjoy him and if you would prefer him without a calendar just let me know at at Use the @ symbol in place of at when you email...and no spaces either.

Hope you enjoy Billy, minus his screeching :)

Kia ora and Welcome to my blog

Kia ora

This is so new to me and I have only ever looked at blogs of scrapbookers, so bear with me while I work this out.

My interest is in creating graphics using Paint Shop Pro, now owned by Corel. I use versions 7, 8 and 9. I am a hoarder and love fonts, brushes, masks etc and have squirrelled many away to use.

I spend much of my time with a group of friends who have been together creating with Paint Shop Pro for a few years now and love this group of truly wonderful women.

We are now sharing our work in a mailing list, Cards with a Touch of Class, and we are sharing various elements of PSP - desktops, sigtags, etc and I only hope you enjoy everything we create together. Pop into our blog, Vintage Style Cards with A Touch of Class, where you will find links to our blogs and news and information about what we are all doing in Paint Shop Pro lately.
